Find Linksys WEP Key

Linksys makes a number of wireless and wired routers for network users. When you set up your network, you may choose to use a WEP security key. If you have forgotten the WEP key and aren't sure how to locate it again, use the Linksys default IP address to access the security details. This will list out the WEP encryption for you to copy down or change.

Linksys tech support makes it easy for a user to actually solve a problem they are having with their device. In many instances, the network is setup and then maintained internally. There is no need for you to do anything with the device. It does all of the work for you. However, there are times that you may need to turn to tech support for additional aid. The good news is that if you have a Linksys wireless router, tech support is readily available.

Instructions

1. Open an Web browser and type "http://192.168.1.1" into the address bar. Press "Enter."

2. Enter in the username and password if you have created one. If you have never changed these settings, the username will be "admin" and the password will also be "admin." If this doesn't work, use "admin" as the username and leave the password field blank.

3. Click on the "Wireless" tab.

4. Select "Wireless Security."

5. Look under the WEP security setting. It will list the passphrase and give anywhere from 1 to 4 WEP keys that can be used.
