Falling Market share of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Windows 7 will be shipped in 2009

Market share of Microsoft Internet Explorer again fell down last month. According to the new Web usage data, Microsoft Internet Explorer is on a pace of decline that will push the once overwhelming dominant browser under 50% by this time in 2011.

IE lost 0.7 of a percentage point to end April with a 66.1% share of the browser market, another new low as pegged by metrics vendor Net Applications Inc., which started tracking browsers in 2005.

As in March, the April gains by IE8, which launched that month, where not enough to stem the slide of the browser's overall share. While IE8 boosted its share by 2.2 percentage points, IE7 lost 2 points and the creaking IE6 lost 0.8 percent point.

Although IE8's gains originally came almost entirely at the expense of IE7, Net Applications' April data shows that IE6 users are also starting to upgrade: The older browser's 0.8 percentage point loss last month was higher than the 0.6 point drop the month before.

Microsoft recently started offering IE8 to IE6 and IE7 users via Automatic Updates, a factor that may have played a part in the accelerated decline of the older browsers and the uptick in IE8.

As usual, rival browsers picked up IE's losses. Mozilla's Firefox, for example, increased its share by 0.4 of a percentage point to end the month with 22.5%, while Google's Chrome climbed 0.2 of a percentage point to 1.4%. Apple's Safari, however, missed out on the action, and slipped 0.02 of a percentage point to 8.2%.

Over the last 12 months, Firefox has gained an average 0.4 percentage points per month; if it keeps to that trajectory, the open-source browser will crack its next major milestone of 25% by the end of November.

IE, on the other hand, has been losing an average of 0.7 percentage point per month over the last 12 months. Unless Microsoft is able to stanch the bleeding, IE will lose its majority status and fall under 50% sometime in May 2011.

Net Applications measures browser usage by tracking the computers that visit the 40,000-some sites it monitors for its clients. The April browser data is available on its own site.

Google has launched a web page plug in called What’s popular which gives iGoogle homepage users a similar service to those offered by Stumbleupon, Reddit, Digg, , Mixx and  many more social bookmarking sites.

Google's own servers select links from YouTube and Reader and blend them with those submitted by users. The gadget shows users these links along with up and down arrows to vote approval or disapproval of the site.

Lacking in the Google feature is any way users can comment on a Web page, one of the central features of Digg and its rivals.

As Google promised that it will release a new application, so it just did.  On Wednesday 25 March 26, 2009, Google released a new mobile application which brings voice search feature to BlackBerry phones, as it did for iPhone and Android-based T- mobile G1.

You can download Google mobile application for free as it allows to you conduct searches with the command of your voice. It’s really very simply to do so just hold down the Talk button on your BlackBerry phone and then speak the term you what to search into the phone. Phone also supports English different accents. But you need to have BlackBerry OS 4.1 or higher and BlackBerry OS 4.2 or higher for Voice Search. These applications also includes support for Google’s My Locations feature and brings up the result based on your location as determined by your blackberry’s PS settings.

It would be fun to use this application and the best part is that you don’t have to set the location again and again for the search.

I wish if I could have any such feature for my Windows xp or may be in Windows 7 they can add this to computers. That would make us lazier.

Facebook on Thursday has launched a new commenting widget which enables Facebook comments to be added to any Web page. It’s like when users comment on a site using this feature, those comment can show users profile pages, which works as a form of free site marketing to the Facebook users.

Facebook Connect is not quite as easy to implement as the "just one line of code" pitch, but it does not look like it will take much effort for a developer: It looks like a simple addition to a site template, registration on Facebook's developer site, and a short file transfer will do the trick.

Not discussed in the materials for the new feature are the privacy implications, but it stands to reason that if you use Facebook Connect to gather comments on your site, then Facebook's terms of service dictate what can later be done with those comments and the social network data about your site's visitors generated by them.

According to the sources, Microsoft is planning to launch windows 7 by this year, they have plans accordingly, but the company is still denying this.

PC industry sources in Asia and the U.S. has told CNET News that they have heard things are on track to launch by this year's holiday shopping season, which has been Microsoft's internal target for some time.

Microsoft is working on special program of windows 7 which will offer Microsoft windows vista buyers may be a free or a very low cost update. Microsoft may release it may be nearby July, as the sources said.

In an interview with Bill Veghte (Senior VP in Microsoft),” I'm telling them that it could go either way, “We will ship it when the quality is right, and earlier is always better, but not at the cost of ecosystem support and not at the cost of quality.”

 Microsoft has already declared that it will be launching six different versions of windows 7.The response to windows 7 was not bad as they have added things like an improved taskbar and snappier performance, the operating system shares most of the same underpinnings as Windows Vista.

I have recently installed Windows 7 beta and was wondering about MIcrosoft .... "what a successor Microsoft has launched"... Just wondering about its products like operating systems, internet browsers, search engine. I recently read it somewhere that it has had a fall of near about 85 in searches.

It didn’t come to me as a surprise, Today Google is ruling internet searches with 69.5% in the 2008 year. Amazingly it has increased by 8 % from the last year according to a survey done by Hitwise.

Yahoo was at second place with had near about 19. 2 searches, which has dropped from the search volume of 11 % (if we compare it to the last month), and the biggest shock came from Microsoft which dropped by 32%. This year searches made by Microsoft search engine were just 5.9%.

But if we look at data monthly then we can see that Microsoft searches has increased from last four to five months which gives hope to increase its searches in future.

Let’s see...Which search engine gets to the top this year.

Some are happy about it and so are not.  Matt cuts has updated it on his blog, "In case you didn’t see where I confirmed it on Twitter, Google recently did a toolbar PageRank update. It’s pretty much done now. If you want more info, I’ve answered questions about PageRank and the Google Toolbar in the past." and confirmed it on twitter as well.

It is the fact that the PageRank which is shown on the Google Toolbar is not enough to judge as to how Google ranks your site. A lot of other factors are involved.

Google has teamed up with Norad, the North American Aerospace Defense Command. On Tuesday afternoon Google announced that this year everyone can track where will be able to track St. Nick's journey around the world using Google Maps and Google Earth.

 Stacia Reddish, a Norad Tracks Santa program manager said,

"The partnership between Google and Norad to bring the Norad Tracks Santa Program to children around the world has been a perfect fit, Google has the server power needed for the program, and the fabulous people required in the mapping arena to ensure children know where Santa will be as he makes his trek around the globe."

This won’t be the first time when people can track Santa, but this year they can tr4ack him on their mobile phones by  using Google Maps. And in twitter as well by adding @nordsanta.

Brian McClendon, an engineering director at Google writes in his blog, “I always thought Norad's Santa Tracker was a great holiday tradition, but I felt like it could have been even better if people could visualize exactly where Santa was on Christmas Eve, We're hoping this version of the tracker will be the best yet. In addition to our "Santa Cam" footage, geo-located photos from Panoramio will be viewable in Google Maps for each of Santa's stops that don't include video."

The tracking begins at 6 a.m. EST on Christmas Eve. Google noted that a Google Map with Santa's current location will appear at this Web address -- www.noradsanta.org -- and will be updated as his journey progresses. And people can track Santa in 3-D in Google Earth by downloading a special Norad Tracks Santa KML at this Web site. Google added that they will have hi-resolution Santa Cam videos of the jolly man flying by different locations around the world.

Google frees Chrome from Privacy Concerns

Google Chrome has always been appreciated for its lightweight look and for its lightning speed of JavaScript engine.  With the market share of near about 1% , Google chrome is lacking behind in the race because it lacks add-ons , extensions and RSS feed. And the other important thing is Google has removed the beta tag from Google chrome may be it’s a move that was probably made in preparation for Google's upcoming bundling deals with PC manufacturers.

As most of us know that Google can track our data… there are few users which are still uncomfortable with that. But don’t worry Google have an answer for that and we have solution to your browser problems as well. And luckily Google has provided 3 options for that.

1. Chrome Privacy Guard

Google has provided chrome with an option called Chrome Privacy Guard. With this tool you can automatically delete the unique Client ID that Google assigns to your Chrome installation. This tool automatically deletes unique ID before each run of Chrome. To use Chrome Privacy Guard, you launch an executable file ChromePrivacyGuard.exe instead of launching the browser itself. The tool cans the "Local State" file inside the Chrome directory and removes all information regarding the Client ID. It then automatically starts Chrome.

2. UnChrome

The way Privacy guard removes the unique ID from the browser. In the same manner UnChrome removes the unique ID form the browser. The only difference is that this option of UnChrome removes the unique ID forever by running this tool just once. After you download and run the tool. You will see a pop up advertisement for the developer's other applications, but again, it's only a one-time thing. Afterwards, your browser will forever have the unique ID removed.

3. Iron

Iron is a fork of Chrome's Chromium core, the open source project behind Google Chrome. Developed by a German software company, Iron goes even further than the above tools to protect your privacy. Where the other tools simply remove the unique ID from Google's version of the Chrome browser, Iron is actually its own, separate browser. In addition to removing the unique ID, Iron also makes sure that no user-specific info is sent to Google, including crash reports. When you enter in a URL incorrectly, Iron does not present any alternative error messages like Chrome does.

Seems Google has started working on its shortcoming… which is really great. Chrome has the features of a good Browser but lack of add-ons and extensions are its obstacles … which hopefully Google is going to face and solve them.
